The Talkative Turtle Learns to Listen
One day, the three of them noticed that the water in the lake was evaporating. It hadn't rained in a year, and many animals in the forest were departing in search of water. Sadly, Bo and Mo decided to leave as well. They came to Tom to bid him farewell.
Tom asked them, "Why are you saying goodbye? If the lake dries up, there won't be any fish left. I also want to leave."
Bo responded with a heavy heart, "We'd love to take you with us, but you can't fly. How will you come with us?"
Tom replied confidently, "That's not a problem. We just need to find a sturdy log. You hold it with your beaks, and I'll hold onto it with my mouth. This way, we can leave together."
Mo appeared concerned, "It's a good idea, but Tom, you love to talk. You won't be able to open your mouth when we're up in the air."
Tom laughed, "I can keep quiet when it's essential. Let's go, guys! It'll be an adventure."
The following morning, the trio departed. Tom was thrilled because he had never flown before. He could now see mountains from a high altitude, and even the massive elephants looked small from the sky. Tom wanted to discuss everything he was seeing with his friends, but he remembered Mo's warning and kept his mouth shut.
Soon they flew over a village. The villagers had seen geese flying, but they had never seen geese flying with a log between their beaks.
"What's that?" the villagers exclaimed. "Is that a ball they're carrying?" asked one villager.
"No, it's a bundle of clothes," shouted another.
"What will geese do with clothes?" laughed another.
Tom was perplexed, and he wanted to ask the villagers what they were saying, but the moment he opened his mouth, he fell straight to the ground. He hit his head on a rock and passed out.
When Tom woke up, he saw Bo and Mo standing over him. Bo explained, "You fell because you opened your mouth even though we told you to keep it shut."
Mo added, "The villagers were kind. They took care of you and left you by a beautiful lake."
Tom looked around and realized it was a lovely place.
The geese asked Tom, "Do you like this place? It can be our new home."
Tom had learned his lesson and nodded without speaking a word.
