Panchatantra Story: The Cat's Judgement T he Partridge and the Rabbit's Dispute Once upon a time, there lived a partridge who had been living in a nest beneath a large peepul tree for many years. One day, while the partridge was away, a rabbit found her empty nest and made it his home. When the partridge returned, she was surprised and angry to find the rabbit living there. She demanded that the rabbit leave, but the rabbit refused, arguing that since the partridge had not been living there for many days, the nest was no longer hers. As the partridge and the rabbit argued, many animals and birds gathered around to listen. Unable to decide whom the house belonged to, they suggested that the partridge and the rabbit take the dispute to a judge. The partridge and the rabbit set out to find a judge, and after travelling far and wide, they finally reached the banks of the Ganges. There, they saw a tom-cat at a distance.
