The Three Promises of Friendship
The Three Promises of Friendship
Once upon a time, there was a young man named Aditya. Aditya loved to walk and explore new places. One sunny morning, he decided to take a long walk in the big, green jungle. He enjoyed the sound of birds singing and leaves rustling in the wind.
After walking for a while, Aditya became very thirsty. His throat felt dry, and his stomach grumbled. Suddenly, he saw an old well hidden behind some trees. "Ah! I can drink some water here," he thought happily.
But when Aditya looked inside the well, he was shocked. Inside the well, he saw three living beings trapped: a tiger, a snake, and a man.
The tiger looked at Aditya and said in a deep voice, “Please, young man, help me get out of this well!”
The snake hissed softly, “Yes, please help me too. I cannot get out by myself.”
The man also said nervously, “Oh kind sir, please save me. I will be your friend forever.”
Aditya felt scared. He thought, “What if the tiger eats me? What if the snake bites me?”
The tiger noticed Aditya’s fear and said kindly, “Do not worry. I will not hurt you. Please help me, and I promise I will be your friend forever.”
The snake nodded and hissed, “I also promise not to harm you. Help us, and we will help you whenever you need it.”
Aditya took a deep breath. He said to himself, “Okay, I will help them. They all need me.”
He found a long, strong rope nearby and carefully lowered it into the well. First, the tiger climbed up the rope. When the tiger reached the top, he smiled and said,
“Thank you, my friend! If you ever come back to this jungle, please visit me at my home. I will never forget your kindness.”
Next, the snake slithered up the rope and reached the top safely. The snake said, “Brave young man, I am proud of you. If you ever need my help, just call my name. I will come to help you immediately.”
Finally, the man climbed up the rope. He looked at Aditya and said, “Thank you so much! I am a goldsmith in the city. If you ever visit the city, please come to my home. I will always be your friend and help you.”
Aditya smiled. “I am happy to help all of you,” he said. “It feels good to make new friends.”
A few years later, Aditya was traveling through the jungle again. He remembered the tiger’s promise and decided to visit the tiger’s home. The tiger lived in a big tunnel in the forest.
When Aditya arrived, the tiger greeted him warmly.
“Hello, my friend! Come inside. Have some water and fresh fruits,” said the tiger.
Aditya drank water and ate juicy fruits. Then the tiger said, “I have a small gift for you.” He handed Aditya gold ornaments decorated with shiny jewels.
Aditya said, “Thank you, my friend! This is very kind of you.”
But Aditya was unsure what to do with the ornaments. Then he remembered his old friend, the goldsmith in the city. “Maybe he can help me,” thought Aditya.
Aditya traveled to the city and went to the goldsmith’s home. The goldsmith welcomed him with a smile.
“Hello, Aditya! Would you like some cold lemonade?” asked the goldsmith.
“Yes, please!” said Aditya. Then he told the goldsmith about the tiger and the gold ornaments. “Can you help me turn these ornaments into gold coins?” Aditya asked.
The goldsmith carefully looked at the ornaments. His eyes widened in surprise. These were special ornaments, made for the king’s younger son who had been lost in the jungle a few months ago!
The goldsmith thought to himself, “If I tell the king, I can get a reward.” But he decided to hide his surprise.
He told Aditya, “Take a little rest here. I will get the coins ready for you.”
While Aditya was resting, the goldsmith secretly sent a message to the king, saying, “I found the man who might have hurt the prince.”
Soldiers came to the goldsmith’s house. They arrested Aditya. The king refused to listen to Aditya’s story. Poor Aditya was now locked in the city prison, even though he had saved the tiger, the snake, and the man.
Aditya felt sad, but he remembered the words of his friends. “Help us, and we will help you.” He knew his friends would not forget him.
Even though Aditya faced trouble in the city, he never lost hope. One day, his friends would come to help him, because kindness always comes back.
